Entry Track - Backward and Forward History
Every entry is usually made from an earlier one and used in a later one - for example Purchase Order → Purchase Challan → Purchase Bill, or Sale Challan → Sale Invoice. The Hierarchy icon on each row shows this whole chain in one place, in both directions, and opens any linked entry with one click.
Where to find it
Open the list of any entry screen (for example Finish Purchase Bill). At the start of each row, next to the edit, print and other row icons, is the Hierarchy icon (a small sitemap symbol).
- Black icon - this entry is already used in a later entry.
- Grey icon - this entry is not used in any later entry yet. Clicking it still shows where the entry came from.
How to use it
- Click the Hierarchy icon on the row you want to check.
- The Entry Track panel opens at the bottom of the screen.
- Made from (backward) lists the entries this one was made from:
- Level 1 - direct source is the entry it was made from (for a Purchase Bill, its Purchase Challan).
- Level 2, Level 3 and so on go further back (the Purchase Order behind that challan).
- Used in (forward) lists the later entries that use this one. If there are none yet, the panel says Not used in any further entry yet.
- Click any box to open that entry in a new tab.
Notes
- The history is built from the links your entries already have, so it works on every screen that is set up to pick from an earlier entry. No setup is needed.
- It is fetched only when you click the icon, so the list screens load as fast as before.
- Up to four levels back and up to 60 linked entries are shown, all from the company you are working in.
- If neither direction has any linked entry, a short message No Hierarchy Data/Links Found is shown.
